The legend tells that Noah’s Ark could have landed on 4 different sites after the Flood. One of them is located 40 km south of Shymkent, in the district of Kazygurt.
The Kazygurt mountain range is known for fantastic and spiritual stories. Among them, a legend says that the Kazygurt Mount was before the highest peak of the whole universe, and that during the Great Flood it would have stayed above the water. Therefore, here has landed the Ark built by Noah to save his family and a pair of every animal species.
Also, the top of the Kazygurt Mount is curved, and the size of the cavity is in accordance with the description of the Ark in the Old Testament.
A symbolic replica of Noah’s Ark of wood and metal, 27m long, was built on the top of the Kazygurt Pass, along the road from Shymkent to Tashkent.
The miniature of the Ark receives many visitors looking for spirituality, who sometimes link a strip of cloth on it and make a wish. The Ark is also used as a relay antenna.
The top of the hill offers a spectacular panorama on the undulating steppe, and just for this, the place worth a visit!
